Ask what changed after the last move
A move can open a file, uncover an attack, or leave a piece undefended. Before choosing your reply, name one thing that changed. This quick check gives your calculation a starting point.
Give the opponent a good reply
It is easy to calculate a line in which the other side cooperates. After choosing a candidate move, pause and search for their checks, captures, and direct threats. In the analyzer, arrange the resulting position and select the correct turn. Press Play to investigate a reply and Move to apply the recommendation.
Separate the idea from the move
“Move the bishop” describes an action. “Remove the defender of the knight” describes an idea. When reviewing a game, write down the purpose of the move. That makes the lesson easier to recognize in a different position.
Review one turning point carefully
You do not need to analyze every move at once. Choose a position where the game became difficult, compare two reasonable continuations, and leave with one concrete lesson. The review guide offers a simple structure.
Use the engine after your own guess
Make a prediction before pressing Play. Wait for the highlighted suggestion, then press Move if you want to apply it. While the session is active, the next position is analyzed too; use Move to apply each new suggestion, and Stop to leave the session. If the engine chooses something else, investigate the difference rather than immediately replacing your answer. The comparison often reveals the useful part of the lesson.
