Make the position the starting point
Chess Next Move is a small workspace for a familiar question: what should I consider here? Set up a position, choose the side to move, and press Play to have the bundled chess engine highlight a suggestion. Press Move to apply that suggestion. While analysis is active, the engine also analyzes the next position so you can investigate a continuation.
The aim is to make postgame study easy to begin. You do not need an account, and positions are not saved by the site.
Useful analysis starts with a question
- Which pieces are undefended?
- Does either king have an immediate threat to answer?
- What changes after a capture, check, or pawn break?
- Can the opponent improve on the reply you expected?
A suggested move is a place to investigate. The result depends on the position you enter and the time the engine has to search; it is not a promise of a perfect move.
Built for focused study
The analysis engine runs in your browser. The board, move controls, and position setup keep the process direct: enter a position, explore a line, and compare the alternatives.
Open the analyzer or read the quick guide before your first position.
